A Murray business owner is among new members selected to the Kentucky State Fair Board. Governor Matt Bevin appointed Sharon Furches to a four-year term Tuesday.
The Fair Board oversees operations for the Fair and Expo Center at the state fairgrounds and the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville. Furches will represent the state at-large. She is the owner of Furches Farms Partnership and is the former president of Kentucky Women in Agriculture.
According to a news release, the annual economic impact of the two venues is more than $483 million dollars. The KICC will undergo a two-year, $180 million dollar renovation, with the goal of bringing an additional $53 million annually to downtown Louisville.
Furches is one of three four-year appointments and among 17 appointments announced Tuesday.
