But the legacy of the laws passed in Frankfort during the session that ended Thursday could be written by the courts, which might decide the legality of several key pieces of the GOP agenda.
Already, the American Civil Liberties Union is challenging a new law that would require a woman to get an ultrasound before having an abortion. A Fayette County school board member has openly discussed the possibility of challenging the state law allowing charter schools. And Democratic state Rep. Sannie Overly warned of legal challenges for a bill that would require people to post bonds when appealing zoning decisions.
Republican Senate President Robert Stivers said he expects lawsuits but called it "a very successful session."
