The open enrollment period in Kentucky begins Thursday and runs through Dec. 15.

Officials with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services say that most Kentuckians will automatically be re-enrolled. Officials do, however, urged everyone to explore their health insurance options.

About 80 percent of Kentuckians enrolled through the state’s health exchange qualify for tax credits or subsidies to reduce their monthly health insurance premiums.

The state also has people who can assist with enrollment in every county and outreach events are planned to help with enrollment.

Officials say the easiest way to enroll is to go online or use the state call center at 855-459-6328.

The HealthCare.gov customer service center is also available. It can be reached by calling 800-318-2596. The healthcare.gov call center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For new users, the federal marketplace requires the creation of a user account and a completed online application.
