Republican Randy Bridges flipped one of the last blue seats in west Kentucky in Tuesday’s midterm elections and gives credit to conservative support in his district - which includes Paducah.
Bridges will begin his term as District 3 State Representative in 2019. He said his campaign focused on important local issues rather than negativity.
He said he believes Paducah and McCracken County is a “conservative, traditional community that has sat silently for too long.”
“They spoke out and said ‘this is where we want to be and it’s time to get back to basics, time to get back to our foundation,” Bridges said.
Bridges said bringing jobs to the region by updating the state’s tax code to attract businesses is a top priority he hopes to address in Frankfort.
He said workforce development is another issue that he hopes to tackle through establishing educational programs. He said another top priority is finding a reasonable solution for the state’s pension crisis. Bridges is a realtor in Paducah.
