A Republican candidate for secretary of state in Kentucky will appear on the ballot in the May primary using "Trump" as a nickname.
State law allows candidates to have a nickname printed on the ballot but only if they submit an affidavit under oath attesting it is their real nickname and they are not using it to gain an advantage.
Carl Nett's affidavit says he was an early supporter of Trump's presidential campaign, and his enthusiasm for Trump was so high that "establishment Republicans" began calling him "Trump."
He will appear on the ballot as Carl "Trump" Nett.
Nett made news in March for sending a threatening tweet to Democratic U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth. Nett said he was not charged with a crime. He later apologized and deleted the tweet.
