Kentucky Group Aimed At Changing Politics Dissolves

A Kentucky political organization backed by a pair of big names has dissolved more than two years after being formed as a way to promote new ideas and recruit people to make them work.

The biggest names behind the New Kentucky Project were Adam Edelen and sports radio talk host Matt Jones. The statewide organization dissolved quietly — a big contrast to the fanfare that greeted its creation in August 2016.

Edelen, a former state auditor, is now running for the Democratic nomination for governor.

Jones is mentioned as a potential Democratic candidate next year for the Senate seat held by Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Jones says the organization's legacy will include creating a network of people to help promote ideas at the grassroots level.

The Lexington Herald-Leader first reported the group dissolved.
