Kentucky Reports Largest Monday COVID-19 Case Increase

Gov. Andy Beshear

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said the state saw its largest Monday COVID-19 case increase.

Beshear addressed the commonwealth from the Governor’s Mansion after being potentially exposed to the coronavirus by a member of his security detail.

Mondays typically report a lower number of new cases compared to the rest of the week due to lab closures over the weekend. The state confirmed 643 new cases, bringing Kentucky’s case count to 80,930. The commonwealth’s positivity rate for coronavirus testing is 4.37%

Kentucky counties in western Kentucky reporting a double-digit case increase Monday include Calloway (17), Christian (17), Henderson (16), Daviess (14) and Muhlenberg (10).

The state reported three more Kentuckians died as a result of COVID-19 Monday.
