Creative Commons

Ballard County officials have confirmed their first positive case of the novel coronavirus.

Ballard County Emergency Management Director Travis Holder in a Facebook post Monday said the case is a 70-year-old woman, self-isolating at her residence. Holder also said the Purchase District Health Department is tracking who the woman was in contact with to determine who else may have been exposed.

“We want to continue to ask that you practice social distancing and only [go into] public places if it is essential,” Holder said in the post. “Now more than ever we need to be checking on our elders as well as those with pre-existing health conditions.”

Holder said those with questions can call the county emergency management office at 270-665-9928. State coronavirus updates can be found at kycovid19.ky.gov.
