Gov. Beshear Issues Warning Ahead Of The Holiday

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear in lieu of a statewide, live COVID-19 update released a statement issuing a warning ahead of tomorrow’s holiday.

“One negative #COVID19 test doesn't guarantee a safe Thanksgiving. Please, stay home with those in your household. Keep those you love safe,” he said. 

As of today, the COVID-19 positivity rate in Kentucky is at 8.88%, There have been 3,408 new confirmed cases and an additional 26 deaths. Currently there are 1,734 hospitalized, 409 in the ICU, and 216 patients on ventilators due to COVID-19.

Beshear also directed Kentuckians to the Guidance for Celebrating Thanksgiving. He encourages small dinners with members of your household, virtual dinners, and shopping online. He stressed the importance of avoiding higher risk activities to help prevent the spread of the virus.

The Calloway County Health Department today reported an additional death related to COVID-19, bringing the total number of Calloway County deaths to 24. The CCHD also confirmed 54 new cases of COVID-19 today, putting the total number of cases 1,670.

Murray-Calloway County Hospital’s (MCCH) latest reported positivity rate is 13.81% as of Nov. 19.

The Purchase District Health Department released an updated report for the counties it oversees: the total cases of COVID-19 in Ballard County is 251; 209 in Carlisle County; 257 in Fulton County; 202 in Hickman County; 2,633 in McCracken County. From these four counties, there have been a total of 49 deaths and there are still 1,304 reported active cases.
