Benton, KY – Marshall County landline telephone rates will soon rise to compensate for lost 911 dispatch revenues over the past few years. 911 Coordinator Jeff Daniel says the service collected 63-thousand dollars less this year than during the same period of time in 2006. He says the continual decrease occurred because more and more people switched to cell phone service. The $1.25 surcharge Marshall County fiscal court approved is the first increase in 18 years.
