Wickliffe, KY – Ballard County magistrates are exploring what it would be like if they were to close the county's jail. That does not mean it is closing, contrary to county-wide rumors. Judge-Executive Vickie Viniard says that's currently not an option. Magistrates will meet tonight to hear estimated costs of needed repairs to the 13-year-old jail. Sherriff Todd Cooper tells the Paducah Sun transporting inmates to an out-of-county facility would be costly and require more deputies.
