Paducah, KY – Auditors will begin poring over the financial practices of the Reidland-Farley Fire Department this week, after board members expressed concern over a lack of expense documentation. Board Chairman David Humphrey says there is no evidence of criminal activity or missing funds, rather board members would like a clean slate to begin reorganizing the department. The special audit comes after a controversial purchase of a quarter-million dollar rescue boat and the potential mishandling of a federal grant application. Humphrey anticipates the audit will recommend new ways to ensure checks and balances at the department.
