Paducah, KY – McCracken County government officials and river industry leaders may meet soon to determine if the Reidland-Farley Fire Department's unwanted rescue boat is something worth funding. McCracken County Judge-Executive Van Newberry tells the Paducah Sun he'd like to weigh the benefits of having the boat as the river industry grows. Newberry says the quarter-million dollar fire-rescue boat could be an economic development for the area. The fire department doesn't have the money to pay for it by its new deadline of January 15th. A grant that could fund the boat would require a commitment from Reidland-Farley to respond to emergencies as far as 200 river miles away.
