Chicago, IL – Republican U.S. Senate nominee Mark Kirk is looking ahead to the November election and already trying to appeal to the independent and Democratic voters he says he needs to win. At a GOP unity breakfast, Kirk touted himself as the fiscal conservative and social moderate who can take away President Barack Obama's old Senate seat. The five-term congressman also quickly went after Democratic nominee Alexi Giannoulias, Illinois' first-term treasurer, for the financial troubles of his family's bank.
