Madisonville, KY – A Madisonville group hoping to build a care facility for drug users has appealed a decision to deny their permit. Officials with the Women's Triangle Recovery House, Inc. want to locate their facility near a residential area in the city's downtown. The Madisonville Messenger reports the city's board of adjustments denied the permit after a public hearing. Local residents worried the facility would lower property values and reduce neighborhood safety. The recovery center operators say residents would be "clean and sober" former drug users who are transitioning back to their lives. The center's appeal is pending in Hopkins County Court.
