Carlisle Courthouse Fire Trial Begins

By Chris Taylor

Bardwell, KY – The man accused of burning down the Carlisle County Courthouse over two years ago is on trial. Witnesses testified yesterday 20-year-old Jeremy Ellis told them he started the fire. Prosecutors have more than two witnesses that claim Ellis admitted to setting the blaze, while his defense attorney argues he took credit for the fire to brag in a jailhouse setting. The Circuit Court session begins again today at the Bardwell Masonic Hall. The Paducah Sun reports the case may go before a jury today.
