KY Auditor Report Points to Some Deficiencies

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Auditor Crit Luallen has released a massive report that gives a favorable review of the state's financial statement. The 221-page audit released Monday reviewed $23 billion worth of expenditures. The audit contains dozens of recommendations on how the state can deal with deficiencies in internal controls over financial reporting.

The report points out that several state agencies had a lack of control over state take-home vehicles. It also points to the Transportation Cabinet's failure to inspect bridges in a timely manner. Auditors also recommend that the state Department of Agriculture strengthen controls over operating expenses and procurement card purchases. They also urge the Transportation Cabinet to establish new statewide monitoring policies for emergency situations.
