Paducah, KY – Geotech Engineering and Testing says it's no longer interested in acquiring the Commerce Center in downtown Paducah for its new headquarters. Owner Mark Workman announced the change Wednesday after all four city commissioners said they opposed a portion of an incentive offer that would have cost the city $285,000 to pay off Geotech's mortgate. The original offer was to swap the Commerce Center for Geotech's current offices. The Paducah Sun reports commissioners apparently didn't know that financial portion of the incentive hasn't been a part of the proposal since December. Downtown Development Director Steve Doolittle says the Commerce Center has been expensive for the city to maintain, costing an average of $50,000 a year.
