Madisonville, KY – The Hopkins County School Board is reviewing its 2010/11 calendar after receiving 800 surveys on that topic. Hopkins County Superintendent James Lee Stevens prompted the survey to receive community input for the upcoming year. School employees and parents gave their input. They indicated a desire to keep one week for Fall break, one week for Spring break and a full two weeks for Christmas break. The school board also intends to create more professional development days they could trade for snow days, to keep the school year from stretching into mid-June. The final calendar will be presented to the Board in March.
