Hopkins County, KY – Hopkins County has filed a lawsuit against Midwest Recyclers, claiming the company owes the county more than 21 thousand dollars. The Madisonville Messenger reports the company received recyclable material from the county and sold the items without paying the county its share. The county and Madisonville entered into a five-year contract with Midwest Recyclers in 2007. The contract called for the company to pay the county quarterly. However, Madisonville took back operations of its recycling center in September, citing disappointment with the quality of work. David Gibbs, one of the company's owners, says the contract break was unlawful, and has threatened to sue the county and city.
