Murray, KY – An estimated 200 people turned out to Murray State's Curris Center Saturday night to support Kentucky's republican candidates at the Jackson Purchase Lincoln Day Dinner. Among the attendees were State Senator Ken Winters, U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield and Corey McBee, a Murray State senior challenging incumbent State Representative Melvin Henley. If elected, McBee would be the youngest representative to serve the Kentucky legislature.
"It doesn't take someone with a lot of age to see there are problems facing this state. We've got to worry about job creation. By that I don't mean slot machine technicians [laughter]. We've got to create real jobs, real industry, and move Kentucky forward."
McBee turns 24, the minimum age to hold office, two months before the November election. Kentucky's primary elections take place May 18. You must register by Monday April 19 to be eligible to vote in the primaries.
