Paducah, KY – Paducah City Commissioners are voicing their frustration with Mayor Bill Paxton and Downtown Development Director Steve Doolittle after learning the city does not technically own the Fourth Street property where the quilt show pavilion is to be erected. It's the former site of Lourdes hospital, which turns out was deeded to the Paducah Renaissance Alliance and not the city. Commissioners have already committed over one-and-a-half million dollars to the pavilion project and feel misled. In apparent protest, they voted against an emergency ordinance yesterday to spend an additional $172,000 for three portable restroom trailers, until the land is transferred to the city. The transfer could take as long as two weeks to complete.
