Paducah, KY – Frankfort and Lexington Archaeologists will be in Paducah today on a fact-finding visit to the former Lourdes Hospital and future site of Paducah's Quilt Show Pavilion. They'll be searching for Civil War and other artifacts next to the Julian Carroll Convention Center near the banks of the Ohio River. The visit comes after someone expressed concern to the state the site stands on what was part of or close to Fort Anderson, where the Battle of Paducah was fought in 1864. Downtown Development Director Steve Doolittle tells the Paducah Sun the city is cooperating with the search. The only way it could hinder the pavilion's construction is if evidence of human remains is uncovered.
