Mayfield, KY – The Graves County Health Department is planning for its independence. It will withdraw from the Purchase District Health Department as of July 1st. Graves County Health Board Chairman Jimmie Ellington tells the Paducah Sun he doesn't expect anything to change right away. The move reflects sentiment from the county's health board that it would be better off financially to get off the district's collective bankroll. Ellington also points to several board members' displeasure of the district's involvement with home health care, a program that has lost nearly $1 million in its first year.
