Paducah, KY – Paducah City Commissioners begin a two-day retreat today at the Julian Carroll Convention Center. They plan to discuss the controversial deed acquisition of the neighboring former Lourdes hospital property in a closed executive session today. Commissioners were upset last week to discover the future site of the city's air-dome pavilion was deeded to Paducah Riverfront Development Authority rather than the city, leaving several feeling misled after voting to invest one-and-a-half million dollars of taxpayer's money into the project. The authority's purpose is setup to buy and sell downtown land at the city's direction. Commissioners Richard Abraham and Gerald Watkins tell the Paducah Sun they don't know what, if any, disciplinary action will be taken against Downtown Development Director Steve Doolittle, who is accused of not being forthright explaining to them who possessed the land.
