Frankfort, KY – Kentucky House Speaker Greg Stumbo is accusing the Cabinet for Health and Family Services of stonewalling lawmakers who are seeking details about a Medicaid managed care program. Stumbo says House leaders are seeking more information about the Passport Health Plan as part of their budget deliberations. They are weighing whether to expand the program, which currently serves about 157,000 members in Jefferson and 15 nearby counties.
Stumbo sent a letter Monday to Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary Janie Miller requesting immediate information about whether Passport is cost effective for the state. He says lawmakers need the "unvarnished truth" to make an informed decision about whether to seek an expansion of Passport. The cabinet did not immediately respond when asked about Stumbo's letter.
