Paducah, KY – Some Kentucky Fish and Wildlife enforcement officers are worried a bill pending in the House will restrict the police powers of conservation officers and disarm them. Some also say it will provide an escape clause for violators. House Bill 429 would require someone to "knowingly" commit an offense in order to be convicted of it. Fish and Wildlife First District Supervisor Larry Ashford tells the Paducah Sun many regulations like season dates, bag limits, and equipment restrictions could be breached without consequences if intentional violators act oblivious to the regulations.
