Paducah, KY – The two boards that oversee downtown Paducah say City Commissioners are exerting too much political influence on their activities. Both Paducah Renaissance Alliance and Paducah Riverfront Development Agency boards say commissioners show no trust in the volunteer-based organizations. Many board members are offended by Commissioners' strong reaction last week when they found out the city didn't technically own the property they had authorized over one and a half million dollars of taxpayer money to build a pavilion for use in the upcoming quilt show. Their outrage led to City Manager Jim Zumwalt's resignation and ordering the land transferred to the city. The Paducah Sun reports board members were also offended by comments that the organizations might sell the property without commissioners' approval.
