Frankfort, KY – The just approved senate budget makes a number of changes to the house budget plan adopted march tenth. The senate plan restores two instructional days cut out in the house budget. It also makes cuts in funding for secondary and elementary education. But, Education committee chair Ken Winters says local school districts would be given more flexibility.
"It allows locals school district to utilize parent volunteers who have received specific training in kindergarten classes rather than hiring aides."
Winters says the senate plan also gives local school flexibility to exceed the maximum class size requirement. The senate budget also includes money to support angel investor incentives, world equestrian games operation, and repairs to the burned Northpoint training center prison.
