Munfordville, KY – Part of I-65 in Kentucky is blocked today following an early morning crash that killed 11 people. Police officials say a tractor trailer truck crossed the median and struck a van head-on at around 5:30 this morning near Munfordville, Kentucky. The van was carrying a Mennonite family from Burkesville. The truck driver and most of the family were killed. Two small children survived and were transported to a nearby hospital. Officials say it's still too early to determine the cause of the accident. Those travelling I-65 should be aware that northbound traffic is being diverted at Cave City to U.S. 31-E, then onto Kentucky 61 West, and back onto I-65 at Elizabethtown. Northbound lanes will likely remain closed for most of the day as crews continue to clear debris off the roadway. The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team to investigate the site.
