Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Senate has given final passage to a bill aimed at trying to reduce teenage suicides by helping teachers and school staff detect the warning signs.
The bill would require a minimum of two hours of suicide training each year by high school and middle school principals, guidance counselors and teachers. The training could be accomplished through a self-study review of suicide prevention materials. The measure cleared the Senate on a 37-0 vote Monday. It now goes to Gov. Steve Beshear.
