Nashville, TN – The Tennessee State Senate has passed legislation that would require abortion clinics to post anti-coercion signs. The measure sponsored by Republican Senator Jack Johnson of Franklin was approved 28-2. Any type of coercion to have an abortion is prohibited under current law. But sponsors say some women may not know that and the sign simply spells out what's in the law. Opponents of the measure question how it would affect individuals who are under age. The companion bill is awaiting a vote on the House floor.
