Paducah, KY – Governor Steve Beshear stopped by Paducah's Barkley Regional Airport yesterday to discuss the state's stalled budget negotiations and the funding left out for Paducah Middle School. Republican Representative Brent Housman voted against a bill that would generate $300 million in revenue for the state and Democratic House Speaker Greg Stumbo announced opponents of the plan would not be in line for school construction projects. Beshear tells the Paducah Sun the issue is about education and shouldn't involve partisan politics. He says funding for Category 5 schools should a budget priority and Paducah Middle School needs to be replaced.
