Madisonville, KY – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet shares plans for a new Hopkins County bridge tonight at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School. The bridge replaces a railroad overpass that fell into disrepair and had to close over two years ago. Highway Department engineer Kevin McClean says the closure has made it difficult to access the high school. Public Information Officer Keith Todd says the new project will cost $1.6 million. Todd says plans had called for the replacement to go up south of the original bridge, but officials have decided construction would be cheaper at a location north of the original. The public may also make comments at the meeting, which begins at 5:30.
