Frankfort, KY – The battle over a state budget continues in the 2010 general assembly. Members left Frankfort Thursday without final passage of a two-year spending plan.House and senate members return to the state capitol April 14th to consider any gubernatorial vetoes.
If there's a budget compromise, they could also vote on it at that time. The senate voted 34 to three Thursday for a proposal modified in the senate but not approved by the full conference committee. Nevertheless, Senate president David Williams believes the vote puts the ball in the house's court
"You know I'm not mad at anybody they have a perfect prerogative of not wanting a budget and not acting on this thing we've negotiated for days and days and days with em we feel this very closely approximates everything we talked to them about."
The senate proposal was dead on arrival with House Speaker Greg Stumbo ruling it out of order.
