Stacy Comments on Budget

By Dan Conti / Angela Hatton

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky House Majority Whip John Will Stacy is optimistic the house and senate can resolve their differences over a new, two-year state budget. The legislature is facing an April 15th deadline to reach an accord. Stacy is one of the conferees working on a new spending plan. He says republicans and democrats on the panel are not that far apart. Legislators have made compromises on water and sewer projects, but Stacy says democrats are holding firm on their commitment to new schools. He says they're needed all over Kentucky and now is the time to build them because bonds can be issued cheaply.
