Galbraith Endorsed By United Mine Workers Union

By AP

Lexington, KY – The United Mine Workers of America has endorsed Lexington attorney Gatewood Galbraith in next year's Kentucky gubernatorial race, a signal that Governor Steve
Beshear has lost favor with the labor union. Galbraith says he's pleased to have gotten the endorsement. Beshear campaign political director Chad Aull had no immediate comment.

UMWA regional vice president Steve Earle said the union takes its endorsements seriously and will work hard to get Galbraith elected in 2011. The UMWA, one of the state's most respected labor unions, endorsed Beshear in 2007. Since then, Earle says the union has grown disenchanted with the governor.
