Murray, KY – Murray State's Faculty Senate passed a motion last night to develop and implement a plan to offer domestic partner benefits. The motion passed 16 to 6. From the Senate the motion will go to the President's office as well as the university insurance and benefits committee. Senate President Steve White says there is another Senate motion in front of the domestic benefits motion that could slow the approval process. The motion must pass by October if it is to be included in next year's insurance benefit packages. If the board approves the motion, Murray State will be the fifth Kentucky university to grant domestic benefits.
