Clarksville, TN – Montgomery County, Tennessee has the highest number of reported cases of Chlamydia outside of metropolitan areas like Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville. Montgomery County Health Department Registered Nurse Susan Thomas tells the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle two major factors in the high rates are the college and the military base located there. Last year, more than 1,200 cases of Chlamydia were reported, along with 390 gonorrhea cases, 17 syphilis cases and 19 people tested positive for HIV.
