Area Agencies Receive VAWA Grants

Paducah, KY – The Merryman House and the McCracken County Attorney's Office are among 22 Kentucky agencies that have received grants to prevent sexual violence. Governor Steve Beshear and U. S. Congressman John Yarmuth announced the Violence Against Women Act grants today, which total 1.6 million dollars. The grants come from the federal stimulus package. The Merryman House received a little over $74,133 and the McCracken County Attorney's Office got $938. The Merryman House serves victims in the eight county Purchase region.
