Princeton, KY – The Kentucky Attorney General's office has issued an opinion in an open records dispute involving Caldwell County Schools. The opinion finds parents have an "absolute right" to inspect all educational records relating to their children, including e-mails exchanged between teachers and administrators. The conclusion comes after parent Jonathan Sholar appealed a Caldwell County school district decision to withhold certain records. An Attorney General's spokesperson says the Caldwell County school district violated the state's open records law by refusing Sholar access to all documents involving his daughter. Caldwell County School Superintendent Carrell Boyd says he won't appeal the matter.
