Commission Hears Downtown After Dinner Dispute

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – The Paducah City Commission rejected a request from Paducah Renaissance Alliance Chairman Bruce Brockenborough yesterday to further change aspects of the Downtown After Dinner event. Currently the evening affair extends from Broadway to 4th Street; shortened this year by one block. Brockenborough says many business owners have petitioned for the event to be shortened to 2nd Street, saying the closure of Broadway limits their customers on Saturday nights. Many other local merchants say the event is good for business and welcome the foot traffic. The Commission charged Brockenborough to resolve the controversy before the event begins this Memorial Day weekend.
