Frankfort, KY – A long time member of the Kentucky senate says members in his chamber would like to see more school districts funding repairs to their facilities. The House budget borrows money for many of those school projects. Jessamine county senator Tom Buford says the senate might go along with some debt, but, he adds local schools should also pay a share.
"We're holding to the stand that those counties that want to participate in reconstruction of their schools four and five category schools that the local communities would have a little skin in the game they're gonna have to take their four percent tax increase on properties or get their property assessments in order."
Buford argues a special session on a budget would still be less pricey than the debt outlined in the house budget proposal.
