Murray, KY – The Calloway County Sheriff's Department 911 dispatch will be completely independent. In the past the county paid fees to Kentucky State Police and the Purchase Area Development District board of directors for support. Sheriff Bill Marcum says the change will allow calls to be answered faster. Funding for the system comes from the already established one dollar monthly charge on phone bills for emergency service. The long term goal is to combine emergency services of the Calloway County Sheriff, Murray Police and Murray State Police in the same building.
