Metropolis, IL – Metropolis City Council members will vote tonight on whether or not to help bankroll additional outdoor concerts at Harrah's Metropolis Casino and Hotel this year. Harrah's is asking the city to subsidize $30,000 from its tourism tax fund to help it book big-name acts. Last year, the city put up $150,000 for a six-concert series, including Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, which is slated to play at the end of this May. City Councilman Charles Barfield tells the Paducah Sun, the council usually fully endorses such grants and expects it to pass, but also warns there may be some dissension this time around.
