Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear says he will soon decide on a date for a special session of the General Assembly. Beshear must call lawmakers back to Frankfort to pass a budget. He's been working with House and Senate leaders on a compromise, and says he'll suggest a date for the session at an upcoming meeting. Beshear says a budget will have to be passed before June, but he's not sure if he will call the session before or after the May 18th primary.
"It really doesn't matter to me. I think the sooner the better and I think the sooner we can push people to an agreement, the better off we all are."
Beshear says expanded gambling is likely off the table for the session, though charter school legislation may be added to the agenda.
