Marshall County Shortens School Days

By Angela Hatton

Benton, KY – The Marshall County School Board has voted to shorten 16 school days in their next calendar year as part of compliance with state school reforms. Personnel Director Ledonia Williamson says teachers will meet on those days to compare notes on student progress. Williamson says Marshall County is the only western Kentucky school rearranging their schedule this way. She says the meetings will facilitate the Professional Learning Communities, or PLC's, mandated in Senate Bill One, which passed the legislature last year.
