By Todd Hatton

Murray, KY – U-S Mine Safety and Health Administration records show that the operators of the Dotiki mine near Providence, Kentucky were cited for violations two hundred and sixteen times so far in 2010. Six of those citations were for violations regarding protection for miners from falling rock or coal, four of which are being either proposed or contested. A report from the MSHA shows that since January 2009, over 8 hundred and fifty such citations were issued with 3 hundred and twenty-one classified as significant and substantial. The federal agency has fined the mine operator over 2 point 2 million dollars since January 2007.
