Nashville, TN – Electrical power has now failed to businesses along the Nashville riverfront where major flooding has swamped part of the city's country music tourist district. Laurie Parker, a spokeswoman for Nashville Electric Service, said a main circuit failed just before dawn this morning, knocking out power to many downtown businesses, including the 33-story AT&T Building and a Hilton hotel. Parker tells WTVF-TV the circuit is underground and repairs can't be attempted until the Cumberland River recedes. The river reached a crest last night at nearly 12 feet above flood stage and the water level has slowly begun to fall. There are at least 19 known flood-related deaths in Tennessee - 10 of which are in Nashville.
