Coast Guard Bans Recreational Vessels on Rivers

By Angela Hatton

Paducah, KY – The U. S. Coast Guard has banned recreational vehicles from the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers. On the Cumberland River, guard officials have banned recreational vessels between mile marker 313 and mile marker zero. The Tennessee is restricted from Paducah to Pickwick Landing, Tennessee, a total of 206 miles. The Coast Guard says that the rivers are at record-high levels and there is excessive debris floating on them. Commercial vessels are still allowed passage. The closure also affects Kentucky and Barkley Lakes.
